Deciding between the Super Tube Slide and Super Speedwave Slide? We compare deck height, speed, comfort, and durability to help you choose the right slide for your playset.
Quick Answer
Choose the Super Tube Slide if you have a 7-foot deck and want a classic tube slide with a higher weight capacity. Choose the Super Speedwave Slide if you have a 5-foot deck and prefer a wave-style slide with a lower price point.
Deck Height: The First Filter
Your existing deck height is the most important factor when choosing between these two slides. The Super Tube Slide is designed for a 7-foot deck, while the Super Speedwave Slide mounts to a 5-foot deck. If your playset deck isn't at the right height, the slide won't fit safely, so measure your deck before considering other features.
Speed and Comfort: What Each Slide Offers
The Super Tube Slide provides a classic tube experience with a one-piece design that supports up to 250 pounds, offering speed and comfort. The Super Speedwave Slide features a scoop design with smooth handrails and built-in waves that feel like a trip down a river rapid, also supporting up to 250 pounds. Both are made in the USA, but the Speedwave's wave design may offer a different sensory experience compared to the smooth tube.
Price and Warranty Considerations
Price is a clear differentiator: the Super Tube Slide is significantly more expensive than the Super Speedwave Slide. If budget is a concern, the Speedwave offers a more affordable option. The Super Speedwave Slide also comes with a lifetime warranty against cracks, which is a notable advantage for long-term durability. The Super Tube Slide's warranty is not specified, so consider this difference if warranty coverage is important to you.
Decision Rules: Which Slide Should You Choose?
- Deck height: If your deck is 7 feet high, choose the Super Tube Slide. If your deck is 5 feet high, choose the Super Speedwave Slide. If your deck height is different, neither slide will fit properly. Measure your deck height before making a decision.
- Budget: If you want to save money, the Super Speedwave Slide is the more affordable option. If you're willing to invest more for a classic tube slide, choose the Super Tube Slide.
- Warranty: If a lifetime warranty against cracks is important to you, the Super Speedwave Slide offers this coverage. The Super Tube Slide does not specify a warranty, so consider this trade-off. Check the warranty details before purchasing.
